Mindful Poetry Moments

Mindful Poetry Moments Connects and Inspires Poetry Lovers Around the World

Mindful Poetry Moments, incubated in partnership with The On Being Project, offers a chance to pause and reflect on poetry’s ability to encounter ourselves, the world, and the mystery of each other. This special collaboration began as a way to provide young students an opportunity to encounter poetry in the course of a normal school day during National Poetry Month and has expanded to reach poetry lovers of all ages.

This year (2022/23), with presenting partners The Hive, WordPlay and Mercantile Library, we will continue to meet virtually in potent and nourishing hour-long sessions dedicated to meditation, a poem, and writing together.

For 2023 National Poetry Month, Cincinnati and Mercantile Library Poet Laureate, Yalie Saweda Kamara and Rimel Kamran, Cincinnati's Inaugural Youth Poet Laureate, will select our four poems to study, celebrate and respond to with new poems. We will produce our fourth volume of poems in the summer of 2023 that were written during National Poetry Month.
