Imagine an entire school – students, teachers, and administrators – taking time each morning to turn inward together, and listen to a brief mindfulness prompt and world-class music.
The Well's programs combine best practices in arts and wellness and are designed in partnership with those they serve. How do we create our programs? In partnership with others and especially those we serve.

PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA–
The Well's "Mindful Music Moments" program is ready for another impactful school year of providing a daily experience of calm and world-class music to nearl 12,000 youth in 40+ schools in Greater Pittsburgh, thanks to generous support from The Musicians of the Pittsburgh Symphony and the Usher Project for Kids. One of three core educational programs of The Well and one of many community initiatives by The Musicians of the Pittsburgh Symphony, Mindful Music Moments is a robust collaboration and daily practice to address a nationwide epidemic of loneliness and isolation (2023) in schools, uplifting the power of music and easy-to-understand mindfulness exercises to reconnect us back to ourselves and to others.
Since The Well's partnership with The Musicians of the PSO began in 2021 with a small number of schools, we now reach 42 PreK-12 schools and classrooms across 25+ districts in Greater Pittsburgh. Thanks to generous support from The Musicians of the PSO and the Usher Project for Kids, Mindful Music Moments will continue to be FREE to all Preschool-12 schools, classrooms, and social service organizations in Greater Pittsburgh/Southwest Pennsylvania.
Each Mindful Music Moment experience – offered in both English and Spanish, and either audio and video format – is an average of 4 minutes (2-3 minutes for Preschool) with a brief guided setup, a mindfulness or creative listening prompt, and uninterrupted time to let the music soothe our minds. Mindful Music Moments also includes weekly printable worksheets for students, access to YouTube & Spotify listening playlists, professional development opportunities for teachers and staff on youth brain development, ongoing technical and custom implementation support, and free access to The Well's sister program Mindful Poetry Moments in April for National Poetry Month.
Schools can start their Mindful Music Moments practice at any point in the year, but don't wait! We don't want you to miss out on all the beautiful music and mindfulness we have in store for 2024/25, starting as early as July 29.

The best part about MMM is the overall engagement of the children with music that is instrumental and the exploratory nature of how the mind connects to music through emotion.

The best thing about Mindful Music Moments is sharing my love of music with my students and providing my students an opportunity to engage and experience music that is outside of the typical genre of music they are exposed to in their homes.
