Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question? We'd love to help! Check our Frequently Asked Questions below, or reach out to us.

How should I implement Mindful Music Moments?

Mindful Music for the Work Day was designed to be played for large groups and individuals to share a collective moment of well-being through music. Here are a few ideas that may work in your unique environment:

  • At the beginning of weekly staff meetings
  • At the beginning of working with (a group) of patients, clients, or partners
  • As needed throughout the day when you need a mindful moment
  • Repeated throughout the week to build mindfulness habits
  • Listen at home to start or end your day

Ultimately, there is no wrong way to experience a Mindful Moment during your day!

How do I reset my login password?

Passwords are manually created by The Well staff. If you forgot or would like to change your password, please contact us for assistance.

We'll respond as soon as possible, often within 1 day.

Who can use my Mindful Music Moments account?

We encourage you to share your custom password with your entire workplace. That includes employees, volunteers, clients/patients, and anyone else that could benefit from having a Mindful Moment in their day. By sharing your account, appreciating music, and taking a brief moment each day to reflect, Mindful Music Moments can become a deeply loved and embedded part of your workplace culture.

How do I access Mindful Music Moments on a computer or mobile device?

All of our content is available online in our web portal. You can listen to audio files and access documents and video links without having to download anything extra. For quick access to the portal, download our web app for desktop, tablet, and mobile devices. Since it is web-based, our app can not be found in the app store, but rather downloaded from our website.

How do I hide potentially mature videos or ads on YouTube while watching Mindful Music Moments videos?

All of our video content is hosted on YouTube. We do our best to adjust video settings on our end, but you may experience ads, thumbnails for potentially mature content, or other unwanted videos on YouTube that are out of our control. Below are a few tips to help mitigate these unwanted videos and create the best in-classroom experience using your own account settings.

  • Sign into a YouTube/Google account while using YouTube. This will help to filter out videos and ads that are less related to your viewing history and will allow you to adjust your own content filter settings.
  • Turn on Restricted Mode on the devices you use to show Mindful Music Moments. This feature can help screen out potentially mature content that you or others using your devices may prefer not to view. It can be found in your YouTube settings and must be turned on individually for each device you use YouTube on. Click here for more detailed steps.
  • Change your player view to Theater Mode or Full Screen. This will make the player screen larger so you don't see any unwanted thumbnails on the right side or below. The buttons to do that are in the bottom right hand of the video player. If you're logged into YouTube and using the same device, it should remember your preference and keep Theater Mode turned on every time you view a video. Click here for more detailed steps.
  • Embed Mindful Music Moments videos into Google Classroom, Edpuzzle, Purdue University, or Purdue Global to completely refrain from showing ads, links, and video recommendations. Since 2022, YouTube has launched their YouTube Player for Education that allows educators to add YouTube videos–including Mindful Music Moments– to their Google Classroom. Playing the video within Google Classroom should prevent ads, links, and video recommendations and will make Mindful Music Moments available for students to view later or as an assignment (if you haven't already given them access to the Mindful Music Moments portal).
  • If you're concerned about video thumbnails appearing at the end of the video, we recommend pausing the video before it ends. There is always about 10-15 seconds after the outro to pause the video before video thumbnails appear. We understand that manually pausing the video may not be an ideal solution, but it will prevent any thumbnails from appearing at the end.

Lastly, you may experience ads on YouTube while viewing our videos. We label all of our Mindful Music Moments videos as "Made for kids" to help mitigate inappropriate ads or any ads at all, but it is not a guarantee. YouTube ads are a built-in feature of using YouTube. As much as we try, curating or eliminating ads is largely out of our control just by using the platform.

How do you choose the music for Mindful Music Moments?

Our program began in 2016 by integrating classical music into the classroom, but has since expanded to include orchestral, jazz, world, and new music (often commissioned by The Well). The majority of selections are instrumental, but you may come across a few vocal selections as well (choirs, musicals, or soundtracks).

Our goal with music selections is to:

1. Show all types of music–both familiar and unfamiliar–that can be well-loved and well-appreciated in a mindfulness context.

2. Reflect lived experiences of those we serve by selecting composers and performers that match and exceed the ratio of demographics reported by our partners.

The order of music throughout the year is often determined by recommended themes which you can find on your playlist in the portal. There are a wide range of themes, but they tend to fall into one of these categories:

  • Emotions, like Calm or Celebration
  • Subject Matter, like Water, Nature, or Space
  • Honoring Heritage, like Black or Women’s History Month
  • Instrument Features, like Piano, Cello, or Percussion

Have a music recommendation or a new idea? We would love to hear! Please contact Bryce Kessler, Director of Music & Arts Programming.

How can I stop emails from Mindful Music Moments and The Well from going to my Spam/Junk folder?

Your email service provider will sometimes try to predict incoming spam mail on your behalf and filter it into your spam folder before you see it. If you're not receiving expected emails from TheWell.World, it may help to safelist or whitelist our notifications with your email service provider. If your email account is controlled by a school or workspace, you may need to contact your IT department for help.

How do you choose the prompts for Mindful Music Moments?

Our daily prompts are crafted by The Well staff based on our collective experience of musical concepts and mind-body connection.

Prompts tend to fall into one of these categories:

  • Mindfulness Techniques or Internal Sensing (heartbeat, breath noticing)
  • Creativity or Imagination-focused
  • Critical Listening (musical themes and sounds)
  • Feelings or Emotions-centered

Have a suggestion? We would love to hear! Please contact Bryce Kessler, Director of Music & Arts Programming.

Do I need to download files before listening?

No. All of our audio files are able to play in your portal with an internet connection without the need to download. If you're worried about loading times due to poor internet connection, we do have the option to download or load the content in advance. For more instructions on how to download and share content, click here.

Our video files are hosted on YouTube and do not need to be downloaded, but do require an internet connection.

If you would like a downloaded video for a specific purpose or unique circumstance, please contact Bryce Kessler, Director of Music & Arts Programming.

How do I keep the music from stopping when using my mobile device?

For best listening experience when using a mobile device disable auto-locking.

For an iPhone or iPad, go to Settings-> Display & Brightness-> Auto - Lock -> Never.

On Android devices Settings-> Security -> Screen Lock -> None

When I click on the portal dropdowns, nothing appears.
