Mindful Music Moments

Imagine an entire school – students, teachers, and administrators – taking time each morning to turn inward together, and listen to a brief mindfulness prompt and world-class music.

Mindful Poetry Moments 2025 Book Launch Recap

This past Thursday, August 14th we celebrated the collective effort of poetry lovers in our community — including adults from around the world, many of whom that have been a part of our community for years, alongside students locally in Cincinnati and across the US, and the parents, teachers, and administrators who supported them — by hosting our 2025 Book Launch both online and in our brand-new Walnut Hills space!

The night began with some mingling and showcasing the latest Mindful Poetry Moments 2025 collection alongside previous editions. When everyone was gathered in our new event space, the entire Well staff introduced themselves and the new building, also announcing the addition of Sarah Mackenzie to our team. After brief introductions, Patrick Raneses, who has been managing Mindful Poetry Moments this year, gave a few words of introduction into this year's theme and the power of poetry and mindfulness.

After these remarks, Manuel Iris, this year's Mindful Poetry Moments curator, former Poet Laureate of the City of Cincinnati from 2018 to 2020, and member of the National System of Art Creators (SNCA) of Mexico, gave an introduction to his selected theme of Reconciliation and the power of poetry, despite the existence of suffering, to reach beyond and connect ourselves with others.

Both in-person readers in Cincinnati and virtual readers were the feature for the night. The program was divided into four parts, with each part corresponding to the four sections of the book: "Love After Love," "I Am From Here," "Among the Multitudes," and "Wild Geese." Manuel read the corresponding poem and talked a bit about the choices behind his curation. Everyone was especially enthusiastic to hear from the student poets, from whom comprised over 150 submissions from in our collection, the most in this program's history.
