Imagine an entire school – students, teachers, and administrators – taking time each morning to turn inward together, and listen to a brief mindfulness prompt and world-class music.
The Well's programs combine best practices in arts and wellness and are designed in partnership with those they serve.
Wow, what a year it’s been.
When I started at The Well as a summer intern in May of 2024, I never could have imagined the transformation my life would take in little over a year.
In 2016, I moved to Cincinnati from a small town in NE Ohio to attend undergrad at University of Cincinnati. Three years later, I graduated with my BA in English Creative Writing. I was meant to take a year off and apply to grad school for poetry but as you can imagine, my plans got derailed in 2020. Life happened and I stopped writing for nearly four years, until I found my way to The Well.
One of my first tasks at The Well was to create a workbook for students based on the themes of wonder, curiosity, and hope in the universe. Included within the pages is a meditation, the first meditation I ever wrote. I started writing again that day and I haven’t stopped since.
In January 2025, Stacy invited me to travel to Cambodia with her to lead my Wonder Workbook activities at Harpswell and Empowering Youth in Cambodia. It was a beautiful adventure filled with inspiration and self-discovery and I will forever be grateful that I get to carry this with me for the rest of my life.
From creating workbooks for children in schools to leading mindfulness and arts programming throughout the community and across the world, my time at The Well has gotten me back in touch with my artistry and my writer’s mind. With the support from Stacy, I found my voice again.
I’ve spent a lot of time since undergrad wandering aimlessly, unsure of where to go next but in the back of my mind, I always thought about grad school.
So all this to say, I am moving to Wilmington, North Carolina to pursue my MFA in Poetry at UNCW this fall. On August 8th, I will be loading up my car with my cat, Elio, and I will be leaving Ohio for the first time in 27 years.
2024 was a year of change for me and 2025 has been a year of expansion.
Thank you to Stacy, Bryce, and Patrick at The Well and to all the friends I’ve made throughout my 9 years in Cincinnati.
If you need me, I’ll be by the ocean.
With love and light,
Charli
