More than anything else, my love for orchestral music and art was influenced by watching the Disney movie "Fantasia 2000" as a kid. The way the movie combined artful storytelling, intense, colorful visuals, and timeless music is something that has stuck with me my whole life and inspires me to use the arts to make a positive impact in other people's lives.
After hearing many teachers ask for video versions of Mindful Music Moments, The Well collaborated with three amazing Cincinnati-based animation firms (Pixel Fiction, Kattspaw Audio, ltd, and Lightborne Communications, Inc.) to create our new mascot Mel O. Dee and music-responsive animations for every day of Mindful Music Moments.
While I was editing this first-look video, I felt an intense wave of nostalgia that made me teary-eyed. Creating a music-animation experience for students feels like a full-circle moment. Certainly, the videos we create will help everyone find a moment of calm, but for some students I know it will be a life-changing experience like it was for me.
