Mindful Poetry May 5th Gathering

This week for Mindful Poetry Moments we gathered to listen and contemplate "The Cave" by Paul Tran. We were joined by special guests Sarah Yeung, of SKY Sound Yoga, who led our opening sound meditation, and Eddie Gonzalez, Director of Engagement at The On Being Project, who led the reading and response.

Connect with Sarah Yeung and join one of her healing offerings at SKY Sound Yoga.

Connect with Eddie Gonzalez at The On Being Project.

(If you'd like to read the full transcript, that can be found here.)

We are so excited to create another Mindful Poetry Book to share your incredible poems inspired by this year's Mindful Poetry selections. You can send your top 2 poems to rowe@thewell.world by May 14th to be included.

Community Response Poems

Looking at you
By Steven Barragán

He kept going
Deeper and deeper
He found his older self
Looking at him
He said "I got you"
They kept going
Together now
Holding hands
Helping each other
To cross the unknown
Being each other eyes
In the dark
Jumping obstacles
Climbing walls
Walking paths he hasn't been before
They enjoyed each other company
Nothing will separate them now
Perhaps they will find another self along the way
Looking at them

Cave Men Within
by Spencer Wainger

Yes Cave Men within are
Notorious fact or fiction
Metaphorically not sharpest tool in
Shed

Yet intricate drawers of their time
Yet creative fish protein in stomach

Rock structure
Thrown for protection

Yet architectural design
Cave Men with in

Ancestors
by Spencer Wainger

My Jewish Ancestors are close to my heart
Found promised Land Israel

Keep going my people do not give up
Do not give up we must not give up

When challenged my ancestor's challenges
Are nowhere close to mine resilient
Galvanizes resonates in mind and body

Someone kept going deeper and deeper
by Deb Daniel
they saw the books left lying on the sofa
the plates crusted with hardened mayonnaise
the bathroom scale calibrated carefully to tare at zero
your placenta from centuries ago.
