Each year during April for National Poetry Month, The Well holds virtual space for poets and poetry lovers for an hour of nourishing community and creativity. The format is simple. In each session, we meditate, consider a single poem, receive a prompt, write, and then share with the group.

Poems generated by attendees during this session can be submitted for publication in our 5th anniversary of the Mindful Poetry Moments anthology!

This year's poems have been curated by translator, vocalist, composer, poet, and educator Haleh Liza Gafori.

In this session...
Poem: "Song" by Adrienne Rich
Mindfulness Facilitator: Daniel Fresco
Poem Facilitator: Haleh Liza Gafori

Mindful Poetry Moments, incubated with The On Being Project, offers a chance to pause and reflect on poetry’s ability to encounter ourselves, the world, and the mystery of each other.

This special collaboration began as a way to provide young students an opportunity to encounter poetry in the course of a normal school day during National Poetry Month and has expanded to reach poetry lovers of all ages.
