Imagine an entire school – students, teachers, and administrators – taking time each morning to turn inward together, and listen to a brief mindfulness prompt and world-class music.
The Well's programs combine best practices in arts and wellness and are designed in partnership with those they serve.
In this gathering, we listened and contemplated the poem "Lullaby for the Grieving" by Ashley M. Jones. Poet and author Makiah Malan opened our session with box breathing exercise and guided meditation and poet Jaye Elizabeth Elijah led our exploration of grief within the poem.
PROMPT:
Make small steps in the world of your own grief: simply put one foot in front of the other. What do your feet find? What prayer do you say with each step? “small, small, sure”—do you feel sure-footed?
Write your “hope exhaled / into the trees.” What do you tell them? If you feel stuck, try beginning each line with “please,” as Ashley M. Jones does.
Or follow your muse.

We'd Love to Hear from You
