Cincinnati, OH – This upcoming 2nd Saturday of October the artists, makers, and businesses of Camp Washington will open their doors for the annual neighborhood celebration Made In Camp. Now in its 8th year, Made In Camp will occur on Saturday, October 12 from 12 – 4:30 pm with after party activities from 4:30 – 8 pm and is sponsored by the American Sign Museum, Binski’s Bar, Camp Washington Urban Revitalization Corp. (CWURC), Wave Pool, and The Well. The event showcases the neighborhood’s unique character where the arts meet industry. Artists and makers from a wide range of mediums and businesses give visitors to the neighborhood a chance to learn more about and even try out artistic and technical skills including soldering, cross-stitching, screenprinting, neon signmaking demonstrations, paper-mache, and more.
Visitors can choose their own adventure through the neighborhood, visiting all the different studios and gallery spaces. Enjoy live music by local favorites The Perfect Children at 12:30 pm and Jess Lamb and the Factory at 2:30 pm at the American Sign Museum (1330 Monmouth Ave). The Museum will be offering free admission that day along with artmaking activities and tours. Other art exhibitions during the event include at Wave Pool (2940 Colerain Ave.), the return of 9x18, a parking lot performance festival, a Mexican tissue paper flower making session to celebrate the Day of the Dead season, and FotoFocus exhibition, A Thousand Words (Wave Pool gallery) featuring a special performance by exhibiting artist Darius Smith titled Echos of Support: A Healing Portrait Journey, 12-2:30 pm. Showing at Wave Pool’s community outreach space, The Welcome Project (2936 Colerain Ave.) is another FotoFocus exhibition Defend the Sacred and Camp Washington artist in residence, Asha White will offer a community engagement session. The Well (2868 Colerain Ave) will also host a FotoFocus exhibition Sona & Soma featuring the works of 12 Cincinnati youth, plus activities outside in the new Wellness Garden (2865 Colerain Ave)– part of Campsite Art Park’s growing outdoor art footprint on South Colerain Ave.

The American Sign Museum covers more than 100 years of American sign history and displays more than 700 signs and artifacts, making it the most comprehensive museum of its kind. With a mission to educate the community about the history of the sign industry and its significant contribution to commerce and the American landscape, the Museum is organized to preserve, archive and display a historical collection of signs in their many types and forms.
