More about CNU and the Legacy Project:
Each year, in conjunction with its annual conference, the Congress for New Urbanism invites municipalities and neighborhood organizations within the Congress's host region to apply for pro-bono technical assistance from leading urban design firms. Each expert-led Congress Legacy Project is aimed at empowering local leaders, advocates, and residents in underserved communities to implement New Urbanist principles that help people and businesses in their communities thrive. Through public engagement and collaboration, CNU’s Legacy Projects strive to demonstrate the power of great urban design beyond the boundaries of each selected community, and targeted communities experience both short-term progress and long-lasting momentum.
Camp Washington has been selected as a recipient for one of the Legacy Projects for the 2024 Conference in Cincinnati to help the neighborhood organizations develop a business district vision map. This vision will be complete with branding strategies, infill locations and ideas, and small-scale development projects. With this map, the community can advocate for our growth and ensure that developers of all scales are completing projects with the community's vision at the forefront. To accomplish this goal, Congress for New Urbanism has hired ARUP, Streetplans, and Perkins + Will to build a design plan for the neighborhood. These companies will be hosting various community engagement sessions during the week February 26th – March 1st, 2024. It is so important that every voice is heard! We encourage you to please attend one of the sessions throughout the week. Attached is a list of the various open community engagement sessions.
