Mindful Poetry Gathering- April 26, 2023

Our fourth and final gathering for National Poetry Month 2023 was incredibly moving. We listened and contemplated the poem "Remember" by Joy Harjo. Haleh Liza Gafori opened us with meditation and Poem Facilitator and Wellspring Fellow Sheila McMullin gifted us with the prompt:

Write a poem of remembrance in honor of a person, place, or moment in time that is sacred to you.

WATCH a video of the gathering and live reading of the poems created by our gatherers.

READ poems created by the group below and in our annual publication (coming August 2023).

CRAFT your poem before publication on Wednesday, May 3, 4-5 pm EST with facilitators Sheila McMullin and Co-Curator Rimel Kamran. Click here for event info and free registration.

SUBMIT your poem for publication! Due May 26, 2023. For assistance, contact bryce@thewell.world

Re-Membered
by Patricia Franz

one gold band

     re-members a hand

for brushing gray hairs

     tenderly, for tracing

          a new hairline

re-members

     for old age’s embrace

re-members you

     for covenant

Remembering Dreams
by Bryce Kessler

The hardest thing to remember
are my dreams.
In some liminal space between my brain and skull
Loud, cacophonous, colorful, and vivid,
unfamiliar familiar places
swamps, towers, something like my house but not quite.

Then I remember to Wake up! Write this down!
Frantic, before it floats away to eternity,
hoping to make meaning from my
subconscious scribbles

I write it down and fall asleep with relief,
only to actually wake up
having remembered nothing at all.

We'd Love to Hear from You
