Mindful Music Moments Leadership Forum
May 16, 10am-3pm, Wilks Studio Music Hall
Mindful Music will host a leadership forum for students, teachers and stakeholders on May 16 at Music Hall. This multi-hour professional development for current and prospective schools and partners will take a deep dive into mindfulness practices, social/emotional learning, music listening and innovation circles. Attendees will come away with practical tools to share with peers, parents and community as well as professional development credits for teachers. This forum will encourage students and teachers to be the voice they need for better health and academic outcome. The event is free with reservations.
Preliminary schedule:
10 am: Welcome and Live Mindful Music - CSO Quartet and a meditation.
10:30 am: Music, Medicine, Mind presentation by Neurosurgeon Dr. John Tew
11 am: Stacy on Mindful Music - brain science, social emotional learning, the why
Noon lunch
1 - 2:30: Three groups
- Listening Lab: students listen to selections from CSO and Cincinnati Opera to help select playlist and write prompts
- Mindfulness Matters: Deeper dive into mindful meditation
- MMM Innovates: What else can we provide to classrooms and homes?
2:30 pm: Share back on small groups
2:45 pm: Classical Covers (one of our groups who are performing on May 20th concert/fundraiser will do a live Mindful Music cover).
This event is presented by Mindful Music Moments and supported by partners including the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Opera, UC Center for Integrative Health and Wellness and WGUC's Classics for Kids.

Imagine an entire school -- students, teachers and administrators -- taking time each morning to turn inward together, listen to a brief mindfulness prompt, classical music and/or poetry. That's Mindful Music Moments, now in 150 + K-12 schools, camps and social service organizations daily and climbing, touching more than 70,000 students in a calming and focusing ritual.
Mindful Music Moments works in partnership with world-class organizations including The Cleveland Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony, Columbus Symphony, Cincinnati Opera, Columbus Association for the Performing Arts (CAPA), Opera Columbus, Austin Opera, Starting Arts and now The On Being Project to bring daily mindfulness and classical music to schools and community places, generally delivered during announcements. Mindful Music Moments is a program of The Well, and nourished by the non-profit organization, A Mindful Moment.
