For our fourth session, author Rob Dorgan will be presenting his novel Awakening the Mystic: A Novel of Cosmic Love and Healing. Yoga teacher Ren Devlin’s life is forever changed after he performs what the world proclaims to be a “miracle” in front of hundreds of shocked onlookers. Lauded as a spiritual healer, Ren is thrust into the limelight, along with his beloved life partner, Sean. Ren seeks answers through deep meditation, during which he encounters his “council”—the gods and goddesses of the zodiac—who steer him down a path of spiritual healing. To find peace, Ren must face the negative views that his childhood religion of Catholicism has toward the LGBTQ+ community and women, battle his own ego, and come to terms with his fear of death and being alone without Sean. Awakening the Mystic is an exploration of higher consciousness, the practice of yoga and meditation, and a journey to discover what love and healing really mean.
Sunday, January 15th, 3:00-4:30pm. Free.
"Awakening the Mystic" Selections
Rob Dorgan is a certified yoga educator, international retreat facilitator, meditation teacher/devotee, and a practicing astrologer. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Modern European History. While working on his doctorate, the trajectory of Dorgan’s life path was drastically altered when he was introduced to the mystical arts of astrology and yoga. He left academia and, along with his partner, Steve Bolia, moved to Colorado to study and work with Linda Goodman, the author of Linda Goodman’s Sun Signs, Love Signs, Star Signs, and Gooberz. He then mentored many years with master astrologer and teacher of the Ancient Wisdom, Alan Oken. Dorgan began studying yoga in the 1980s. He studied with many teachers including Sianna Sherman, John Friend, and the preeminent Sally Kempton in meditation. Yoga, along with astrology, changed his life. Dorgan’s debut novel, Awakening the Mystic: A Novel of Cosmic Love and Healing, is part memoir and part fiction, it is full of real possibilities for the future of our human species and Mother Earth. He welcomes the opportunity to speak about the major themes of his book, including the ‘Astrological Chairperson of a person’s chart’ and becoming a Mystical Revolutionary.
