Yet, as the relentless hands of time unfurled their inexorable embodiments, my beloved Afghanistan fell under the shadow of the Taliban's rule, ushering in a dark and harrowing era. The very language and way of lkiufe that had once defined its people now bore the scars of this tragic transformation. In this melancholic epoch, poetry became my sanctuary, my refuge from the storm.
Ali Sina Doosti was a Wellspring Fellow in 2023. He used his fellowship to write for this beautiful, handcrafted chapbook as a reflection on the poetry of home.
