Mindful Music Moments: A moment with Caelyn Harper

Today I got to spend a little time with Caelyn Harper at the Academy of World Languages for Mindful Music Moments, our mindful music pilot (daily mindfulness meditation with classical music) collaboration with the CSO.

Caelyn is a third grader. She has a twin, Devin, and a younger brother named Micah (who reads the Pledge of Allegiance on Monday so you will meet him too!). Her mom works at the Academy of World Languages so nearly her entire family spends the day at this amazing school.

Caelyn's favorite subjects are reading and writing. She has found Mindful Music Moments enjoyable because it makes her feel peaceful, which is helpful, because she is usually mad about something. I asked her what makes her mad in the morning. "People making trouble and my brothers messing with me," explained Caelyn.

We are also working on learning Character Strengths, thanks to our partners at the Mayerson Academy.

One of the 24 positive Character Strengths is Leadership. Caelyn was a great leader today because she read the Pledge of Allegiance. She also displayed Kindness by taking me to meet both her brother and her mother in the cafeteria.
