Please be patient while we reorganize our site to help differentiate our programs.
Imagine an entire school – students, teachers, and administrators – taking time each morning to turn inward together, and listen to a brief mindfulness prompt and world-class music.
The Well's programs combine best practices in arts and wellness and are designed in partnership with those they serve.
Learn about the mindful practice of Deep Listening at The Well.
The first in a series of Deep Listening workshops at The Well on Monday, July 29th from 6-8pm led by flautist and teacher Julianna Eidle and sound artist and composer Owen Hopper.
Deep Listening® is a sonic awareness methodology developed by Pauline Oliveros in the 1970s. The practice seeks to heighten our awareness of sound in all facets of life through the core modalities of Listening, Bodywork, and Dreaming. Through four events held over the next year, Eidle and Hopper hope to create a holding space for people to gather, listen, and explore the practice. They will not be “teaching,” but rather opening discussion and introducing their experiences with the practice.
In this first session, Eidle and Hopper will be providing a historical introduction to the practice as well as introducing concepts from each modality through communal performance and discussion. Musical training is not required; this is an open-ended event, and participants should feel free to engage at any degree, just listen, lie on the floor, walk around, or sit.
Free registration.
